Tripartite Meetings of Experts in Labour Statistics on the Revision of the Standards for Statistics on Informality
The purpose of this meeting is to revise the existing resolution concerning statistics on employment in the informal sector adopted by the 15th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) (1993) and the Guidelines concerning a statistical definition of informal employment adopted by the 17th ICLS (2003). The meeting will discuss a draft Resolution on this topic, which will be submitted for adoption at the 21st ICLS, to be held in Geneva from 11 to 20 October 2023. If adopted by the ICLS, this would mark an important step by providing a coherent set of standards including conceptual and operational definitions that would enable and promote more comprehensive measurement of the informal economy.
