The leading source of labour statistics

Youth NEET rate

This snapshot presents global and regional trends along with the most recent country-level figures, based on the latest statistical standards and definitions adopted at the 19th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) (ILO, 2013), as well as the previous standards from the 13th ICLS (ILO, 1982). In some cases, such as for high-income countries, these statistics may be identical. For more details, refer to the relevant databases and their descriptions.

Quick definition: The youth NEET rate is the share of youth who are not in employment and not in education or training as a percent of the youth population. Youth not in education are those who were neither enrolled in school nor in a formal training program (e.g. vocational training). For statistical purposes, youth are defined as persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years

Indicator catalogue

Note: Indicators in the YouthSTATS database displayed below provide data for youth ages 15 to 29 unlike the other databases on ILOSTAT (where youth are defined as ages 15-24). It does not contain global and regional aggregates as shown above, which are from the ILO Modelled Estimates (ILOEST) database.
